There are several state flagships (Ole Miss has a 98% acceptance rate) if you want to go that route, or consider some of the other local state schools.
What makes you think a high acceptance rate will matter to a kid who's clearly not college material?

He suggested trade school and they embraced it. He completed his training and apprenticeship while living at home and saving money. He is loving his job (HVAC) and just bought his first house! He is only 21 years old.
Anonymous wrote:The suggestion that this kid should just go to the military is outrageous. Are you saying kids that aren’t naturally smart don’t warrant higher education and deserve to be cannon fodder and go serve the whims of this administration? Disgraceful.

Last year he managed a 3.0 gpa, this year he did not start off well but is being tutored- junior year. DS has an IEP (ADHD), so he had extra time for the exam, he just doesn’t test well.
Where do I go from here? Take another ACT course?

This is a good suggestion. If in VA, two years at NVCC and a 3.0 GPA gets guaranteed admission to JMU, 3.4 gets UVA or VT. If grades are improving, some more time to mature could be valuable. Running off to Ole Miss could backfire.
Otherwise, test optional seems to be the way to go. Hard to get a 10 point increase on the ACT if you have already done a class.
