It’s not. They are in the process of plying the high school model they have created to middle schools
Fact: MCPS is preparing a presentation on the middle school program analysis.
Speculation: MCPS is getting rid of the MSMC.
You can go ahead and do nothing. But if you care about this, now is the time to act.
What can be done now that can't be done in a couple of weeks?
I would start rallying parents now to influence what is presented at the next Board meeting.
What do you mean "I would"? Are you not an MCPS parent? Are you just not planning on doing this but want to tell other people to do it?

MSMC schools, unlike DCC high schools, are whole school magnets. If MCPS takes away the MSMC system (by requiring, for example, all students who attend ES XYZ to go to their new designated MS Loiederman, ES ABC to go to Argyle, etc, this will in effect destroy these MS magnet programs because the students would no longer be choosing their MS based on interest. All students attending ES XYZ may not necessarily like the arts. This would be a terrible shame.
Should say “When current 7th grade students reach 9th grade, they are to go to their new designated local HS.” Posted too quickly.
Wonder how MSMC selection process would work for next year if it's just going to be gone the following year? What's the point in selecting based on interest if it's only for one year?
