OP, we travel extensively with our kids. One of our kids is the kind of comfort-oriented, "will there be wifi" types that your kid is. That kid does enjoy international travel, but he is interested in different aspects than most people. For example, he enjoys going to the lounge before we board. He likes to fly Delta One and get hot towels and fancy looking meals. He likes to relax on the beach, or play a game of chess in the hotel. He isn't interested in looking at all the ways their architecture differs from ours. He's looking for a good time, comfort, and relaxation. Your kids may be worried that they will be exhausted, hauled out on sight seeing field trips, etc. If you balance the time with relaxation and activities, they will probably love it. For example, my beach bum kid has pictures from a cathedral as his lockscreen, so he did enjoy some of the sightseeing. He just needs balance.

Do you travel to Europe to go to the beach?

We go to Europe to ski and go to the beach. I think a lot of people do. The Alps have exceptional skiing, and Greek beaches are my favorite in the world. It seems weird to say you can only ski or swim on your own continent.

One of the best parts about Park City is that the drive for SLC is 45 min and isn’t on tiny, curvy mountain roads. It is wide highways.

Your kids need a big dose of you don’t always get what you want. If they can’t enjoy Zermatt you have failed as a parent.
