Regular checkout: one time as I was nearing my car, I realized that the checker had not scanned the four seltzer water six packs on the bottom of my cart. I did not go back in.
NP and I did this myself with self checkout and a similar amount of Diet Coke - I forgot it was there and didn’t scan it, then I noticed it in the bottom of my cart when I got to my car. I also did not go back in. Other than that I always scan everything.

Put it in my car to take back when I realized ( had to run to pick up kid from school) but next time I was there I just walked in and put it on a random shelf bc didn’t want to deal with customer service.
