She has a friends who have taken the test 5 and 9 (!) times, respectively, trying to get over 1500. Not because any adult tells them they need a score over 1500, but because in a holistic admissions environment where there are no clear rules or standards, the kids have gone and made one up.

People on this board like to think of DCUM parents as pushy and tigerish. But often times it's the kid's environment -- peer group, school culture -- that drives them towards a pursuit of better grade/score/ECs.

Yikes, people on here are wild. My son wants to retake the SAT to try to get from a 1370 to a 1400 and I am not even sure that is worth it.

Try twice should be able to super score to 1500.

Please accept your kid's score. It's not like he hasn't tried to bring it up already. His efforts will be better spent boosting the rest of his application.

The 1500 is 98th percentile.

Please stop at 1490. It's not worth working this hard for one extra percentile (98th vs. 99th).

is this a real need (a scholarship, a program to apply to)? Or a mythical quest to get a 1500? If the former, look at which section he can realistically improve and work on one thing. If the later, let it go.
