Our troop is about 40% white, equal amount Asian/Indian, with a few Latinx and AA kids. But at summer camp 2025, they all just seemed to separate this way.

Why are kids still doing this in 2025? Any suggestions to stop it?

Ours kids never cared about race, religion or culture when it comes socializing with other people even though we tend to socialize more within our immigrant community for nostalgia and culture as we came here in our 20's as grown adults. It's not a factor for them being born and raised here. They've always had a very diverse group of friends since preschool.

I work at an elementary school. Whenever I've read books to children about racism or injustice the children naturally empathize with the person experiencing that injustice. I've never seen a child empathize with the people perpetuating the injustice or racism.

I don't think it's parents doing it. I have a pretty diverse group of friends.

I think it's the parents in some cases because of language barrier or culture barriers. My daughter was invited to a birthday party for her Hispanic classmates and it really opened my eyes about different cultural expectations about parties. We invited the daughter to a party but they didn't not want to come

It does. I was surprised by this in law school.

Replacing “Latino/a” with Latinx or LatinX is not something “woke” (whatever that’s supposed to mean. It is a result of how bigoted and transphobic the LatinX community has unfortunately shown itself to be.

It was made up by White people and was obnoxious. The Spanish language has male and female ending to words. Latina is female members, Latino is male members of the community. Mixed female and male is Latino. White Feminists thought they could change the Spanish language to suit them. Stupid idea and never went anywhere.

B) A lot of people are racist, which impacts/influences their children - surely you’re aware of this

C) I’m mixed (Puerto Rican and white) and I had friends of all races as a kid, and still do. What you observe is not universally true.

Both are made up and nobody really uses them other than Americans.

Use a person's name, or family name, or country of origin. Never "latino".

Latinx was a fad that never took off, but I have no idea what makes you think it is uncommon for people to identify with the term Latino.

My country of origin is the US. I am American, and I am also Latino. Many, many people identify as Latino in the US. It is incredibly common.

Exactly. Latinx is basically "you people". It's not aging well at all.

Well? Why are they?

She said it's due to normal identity development all teens go through, combined with the US' racist history that has impacted social and cultural groupings. Kids are trying to sort out who they are and what groups they belong to. Self-segregation is one step along that process before they become an adult.

She wrote the book in the 90s and an updated version came out in 2017. It's in most public libraries.

- your trolling is too stupid to even be close to believable. Your dear leader might have just a bit more to do with the current state of affairs than any "DEI" program ever did.
