Op and others like her want to be able to say “oh thanks I got it in the KIDS SECTION can you believe it!?? I’m just so tiny I can’t shop in the women’s section. Tee hee hee “

I say this as a fellow petite adult.

OP here - I promise you that those words would never leave my mouth. That is just gross. That you thought it says more about you than about me though.

Ok, so then why aren’t you looking for stores that have good petite sizing? Because you want to shop in the kids section!

OP here - as I stated previously, I have tried petites many, many times and they generally don't work for me. The length is too short. Maybe I have long limbs or maybe I just prefer things a little longer, but they don't work for me. I also find that petite sections are small, have little variety, and the clothes are always frumpy looking.

Generally I find this to be true also, but sometimes it seems to be the other way: I'm 5'2" and around 115 and wear a medium or even large in some clothing. It's no wonder women have body dysmorphia.

Anonymous wrote:I’m 5’4” with OPs same measurements and most recently bought wide leg linen pants from banana republic in XS petite. And they fit perfectly. OP might have to hem them but everything else should fit and flatter.

I never look at children’s clothes bc the arm length will be too short. Also my body is changing as I get older and things don’t hang off of me as they used to.

Theory also fits very well in a size 0 or 2. They have size 00.

FWIW, Athleta Girls stuff has freakishly long sleeves.

Agree. i have two teens (18 and 19) who are tiny. I buy them XXS and XS things and they are always in stock. They shop a lot at Zara and almost always an entire item will be sold out EXCEPT for the size XS. We get so many clearance deals.

Good lord, granny, you need to be shopping at Talbots instead of pretending to be a teenager. I'm sure your family is so embarrassed by you.

Thanks OP for starting this thread. I stopped shopping for 5 years and am just starting to refresh my wardrobe. In those 5 years, my middle-aged body has rapidly changed and I’m finding that clothes don’t hang on me like they used to. I did spend a week going from store to store in malls. I’m also petite and have found the most success at teen stores: Abercrombie, American Eagle, Aerie, Aritzia. I’m mostly a medium now at those stores bc I’m wider and curvier. If you spend enough time in those stores and use your imagination, you can find some gems that are not crop tops and baby doll style clothes (but no judgement if you can rock that style!).
