We started spring of junior year. Some of these schools were on their list.

Plenty of NESCAC schools have official visits set up in Sept for ‘26 ED applicants

Stupid to say d3 recruiting is done- even the slower Ivies just finished filling their classes for ‘26

Whether it's a P4, Mid Major, D2 or D3 school, they all have their list of top kids right now they want to get on their first visit weekends.

A few NESCACS invited my kid to recruiting weekends in September.

When we would lose kids to an Ivy School in recruiting, I coached P4, many of them took about three visits. They visited their top Ivy pick(s) and then a back up school just in case they didn't get in to any Ivys. Same with the service process. (NAVY, AIR FORCE, etc). Similar recruiting process.

They were typically upfront that they wanted a backup school visit and we understood that. We secretly hoped, if they were good enough, we could wow them away with the P4 glitter on a visit and make them change their mind.

We were told by all the top d3 schools that their official visits are in April

September is big too.

For which d3s? We were told by three top d3s that their visits are in April

Swarthmore, Amherst, and many others

Yes. The case to watch is Johnson v. NCAA case, which challenges the employment status of college athletes. The Third Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that athletes can be considered employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act and remanded the case back to the district court for additional fact-finding. In addition, one of the concerns after the House Settlement is that antitrust litigation will continue. One thought about how to eliminate this threat is to allow the student athletes to engage in collective bargaining. The fact that professional athletes do so is what protects the NFL from antitrust suits. So, if that develops as beneficial to college sports in the future, it could impact the ability for international athletes to compete and get visas. I'm not sure how that will play out, but the interaction between these competing concerns is going to be interesting.

Nothing like this exists for American swimmers/divers internationally and I do believe the NCAA needs to figure out how to promote US athlete development. Something needs to change as many of the athletes use NCAA to train for olympics games, worlds etc...

Exactly. Why are American kids getting overlooked for international swimmers who do nothing for the development of our country's Olympic Team? Someone in Colorado Springs needs to wake up and start advocating for our sport within the NCAA.

If the courts eventually rule that athletes are employees, that will impact the ability to recruit international athletes b/c their visa status does not allow them to be employed.

That would be awesome. Is it in the courts now?

They are still on ‘26

Williams made it’s first accepted offer for ‘26 on July 1, which is the earliest date the NESCAC can give offers

Anonymous wrote:D3 is not so cut and dry like Power 4 recruiting. Each school has their own way of doing things, quirks, and nuances. Schools like Williams, which academically is on par if not better than most Ivys, will do things differently than Pomona, Wash U, etc. Bottom line is you need to find a school that fits your DC and a coach that wants them-this allows for the coach to carry your kid through admissions and support your child’s acceptance via ED. Just like the Ivys. Otherwise, you will have to apply on your own and if you get in as an unsupported swimmer then you are in and can swim. That can be a daunting task and risk. Most D3 team’s limit supported athletes to about 3-4, on both sides, at the top programs.

Definitely depends on the school for sure- some of the really fast ones have up to six spots, and recruiting happens late- Pomona is still filling out its class of ‘26 and hasn’t really started on ‘27, though NYU has same with Dennison
