I can’t believe any reasonable adult would chaperone and condone underaged drinking. I’m not a pearl clutcher either. I know what happens at beach week. I went to beach week myself, which is why there is no chance on Earth that I would call myself a chaperone in that setting. I can also say with 100% certainty that even years ago when we went to beach week if anyone’s parent was “chaperoning” us they wouldn’t have tolerated or condoned the behaviors.

If you’re supposed to be the adult in the situation then be the adult. Don’t gossip about it like you’re one of the girls. You’re not supposed to be their friend down there. You’re supposed to actually chaperone.

It’s not unusual for girls as young as middle school to have performed BJs on boys long before beach week / spring break; a bj is not sex and it’s no big deal (whether you view it that way or not).

I didn’t, and lots of my friends didn’t - plenty did - but there is a big group who didn’t.

I am not judgemental about my friends who had casual sex - the majority of the time I think they felt like it was their choice and that felt empowering, but few thought the sex was good (usually bad) so ultimately not that satisfying.

I don’t think having casual sex should be normalized- it’s actually not the “typical” experience or even the experience of the majority of teenagers or college age kids.
