You're a nutter and unpatriotic.
+1 traitor — the police were not effing giving tours that day. People were scaling the walls and going through windows. There crossed police barricades. Anyone climbing through a window knows they were trespassing. It was obvious and you know it.
If I'm right and your wrong, what does that mean about your information environment?
Absolutely no one walked into the Capitol building on January 6th unaware of what they were doing. No one.
Watch the tapes and draw your own conclusions. I saw video of the Capitol Police waving their arms in a welcoming gesture. Which is what police training at the time would have favored-- deescalation tactics. Remember that these police spent the summer before guarding the Capitol during the BLM riots and were instructed to deescalate. That's what they did on J6 and it was good police work. But to the protesters, being waved in and given a tour could absolutely be mistaken for being welcome. In any case-- even if I were wrong on this point, which I'm not, there's a huge difference between trespassing and assaulting LEOs. People who assault LEOs should have enhanced prison sentences.
?????????????????? You must be kidding.
They assaulted LEOs and were responsible for several deaths. Do you have no respect ?
I've talked to actual Capitol Police who were there that day that I know socially. They were in a tough spot and followed their training, which was to be warm and welcoming to the protesters. And the tapes, which you can watch for yourself, corroborate what they have said about this.
Go ahead and pull up early threads here on DCUM about this very issue. The left noticed how chummy the Capitol Police were and in the immediate aftermath, were calling the Capitol Police traitors who facilitated the incident. They were calling the Capitol Police right-wing extremists based on these clips. Right here on DCUM. Look it up. People's memories have been distorted by time.
You are a liar. Our neighbor was there that day, and for days after, and he was traumatized. He was a shell of a man for weeks after and slept at a hotel downtown.
I cannot believe you are suggesting that police were inviting people in the Capitol. Just come on in through the windows, guys. Poop on any desk you like. No need to bag check that confederate flag.
It was absolutely traumatizing for the police. We are in violent agreement about that. However, the fact remains that they did what they were TRAINED to do, which is to be welcoming. I'm in no way claiming that they enjoyed the situation or that it wasnt horrific for them. And my Capitol Police friend was extremely shaken for months. But I am able to understand that if people are welcomed in, they may not understand they are trespassing.
You also absolutely suck as a friend. Our other neighbor prosecuted these guys at DOJ and he said it was excruciating to have these officers on stand reliving the day. I dare you to tell your “friend” you think anyone who was trespassing shouldn’t receive jail time. So gross. And that this has to be explained over and over to you.

I dare you to tell your "friend" that he was being "welcoming" to the people trying to hang the Vice President.
He is the one who told me about having to do that, so why would I tell him, "hey you know that thing you just said? I'm going to repeat it back to you."
He didn't enjoy having to act like he was cool with the situation as it unfolded. But I'm not going to rewrite history with you folks. You know this is true, if you have any intellectual honesty at all. Just pull up the threads here on the political forum from immediately after J6 and you'll see the leftists complaining that the Capitol Police were too friendly to the protesters and that they should be investigated for conducting an "inside job."
Once people realized that put the DOJ in a really dicey legal position, people started rewriting this and posting that photo of the Capitol Police officer bravely fending off a crowd. That was the image that is now burned into everyone's long term memory. But the image before that that was circulating was the chubby Capitol Police officer hamming it up with the rioters. People reposted that and claimed the Capitol Police was in on it.
The reality is that this riot went on for quite a long time. At the beginning, of course the officers tried to peacefully quell the situation and resolve it without force. That's good police work and you're a total fool to deny that. But it's also a reality that when the police, for example, literally led the QAnon Shaman man into the Capitol, that muddies the waters.
In any case, all I care about now is seeing a shit ton of people in California prosecuted for trespassing, assault, terrorism, interfering with government, etc.

And you have the nerve to support the idea that since some people assaulted police officers on J6, that the left should be able to attack them also? Like that makes any sense? Stunning lack of morality.
NP.
I think the point is that since all of the J6ers were pardoned, and we’re even willing to pay those who were clearly behaving illegally for the consequences of their actions, it is clear that violent insurrection is ok with the current Republican administration.
It’s not that it’s actually ok for liberals - it’s the fact that it is clearly ok for Republicans that is a problem.
I don't know how much clearer I can be: the J6 protesters who were in any way involved in violence against law enforcement should serve lengthy sentences in harsh conditions. There is no double standard here. I quite literally would be okay with death penalty for anyone who attacks a police officer, regardless of what "cause" they claimed to do it for.
And while I think putting people in prison for several years for trespassing is overkill, the standard has been set. The DOJ needs to use facial recognition on the crowds in LA and pursue the harshest punishments allowable by law for interfering with our democracy. If they so much as kicked a rock, I want to see them brought up on terrorism charges.

You sound unhinged. Isn't your last demand a bit extreme?
We put Glenn Beck watching grannies in prison for a long time for entering the Capitol and harming no one. There needs to be equality under the law.
“You people” seem to have zero hesitation in making false claims like ^^^ - which innocent granny was imprisoned for a “long time”?
How in the F do you even exist in the same universe with sane, fact-based, sentient human beings?
