He lost several of his fellow officers in the line of duty, all of whom he stood beside regularly in dangerous sometimes life threatening situations as they protected people like you and me. They are family and there are emotional implications that neither I nor most of the people posting here will ever understand, and we are lucky for that.
Chances are that many of the motorcades you’re seeing and hearing this week are escorting the families of fallen officers to events being held in their honor which are happening throughout the city. I have been part of one. I agree re the inconvenience and frustration many of us are experiencing as a result but I also know personally multiple kids who grew up in part without their dads and acknowledgment of their loss and the sacrifice - truly the ultimate sacrifice - their families have had to make is incredibly important and absolutely deserved.

After the recent shooting in Tenleytown, seems to me there are a whole lot of anti police people begging for additional patrols so that they can continue shopping at Whole Foods and Target without worrying about stray bullets.
It’s a week. Get real.
I am not anti-police and I would prefer additional patrols in DC but none of these people are working. They are here on vacation. What are you not getting about this argument?

You’re welcome.
If it were then great but it’s not.
Name a safer week. We’ll all wait.
Happy Police Week to those that risk their lives for us.
I'm picturing you as fat with bad blond highlights and your cop husband lets you tag along to "the big city" with him for the week but then doesn't pay any attention to you - bc he's drinking with his buddies - so that's why you comment dumb shit like this on a local message board.
Yeah people visiting from out of town are dying to hop on the cesspool that is DCUM. You are not as special as you think you are lady. I’m picturing you as painfully thin with a horse face and a giant stick up your ass. 🙄

People here should sign up for a night ride along instead of watching the Hallmark Channel.

One had an awful DC with a map of Florida with the slogan, " the gun shine state". So gross. Not sure if the Omni is the main hotel, but tons of cops were staying there. Tattoos and fat stomachs all around at the pool.
