I was charged $120. And yes for a woman. Took her 10 minutes.

Did they wash your hair?

Yup. I have fairly short hair. maybe 15 minutes tops. the actual cutting probably took 2 minutes. it was literally a trim.

Yikes‼️
Sounds like a rip-off to me!

I would shop around for someone cheaper.

Perhaps ask someone whose hair you admire.

Good luck.

It happens. Nothing to do but learn to ask first (when making the appointment). It stings. After covid my stylist doubled her prices wout saying anything. It was my final appointment with her. Currently I pay about $40 for a haircut.

$75 for a wash, cut, and style in Springfield. And a tip on top of that. It usually takes about 45 minutes and I think that's a reasonable price.

I just paid $150 in Georgetown. Went up. Had been $120 and then &140.

I pay $175 before tip at a fancy salon, but my cut literally takes an hour. I only go three times a year, so it’s worth it to me. OP, $120 seems ridiculous for what you are describing.

My go to salon raised their price from $65 to $75 (before tip) for a standard wash, cut, and blow dry. So, I switched to a hole in the wall salon and was shocked that I was still paying $60. It’s lower but not that much lower for a salon operating in a bare bones environment. I may try Hair Cuttery next.

definitely not a true blow out- she did dry it and minimally styled it.

I have another place I got to for blow outs and they look amazing and I can make it last like 3 days. this was not that.

Yes, my stylist moved somewhere in Tysons that charges $120, I went once because I love her, but it's too much. Previously she charged $85 and owned her own place, so I didn't even have to tip. Now $120+tip plus tipping the hair washer ends up $150+ and is outrageous

This has always been a question i’ve wondered-do you tip at all if the person owns their own business and is the only person?

I do because I like her.
Also I know a little bit about her financial situation and it feels like the right thing to do.

Did they blow it out and style it at the end?

I ask because I always how much something will cost before someone does something to me or for me!

Op here. no I didn’t. because in my mind I honestly didn’t think it could possibly be this much-especially when it wasn’t a fancy salon (where it’s never even cost this much). I mean it doesn’t matter-I obviously paid it and that was that and I will never go to a place that doesn’t publish their prices again. That being said, this person is constantly recommended in local groups-and has been recommended when someone has asked for a great hairstylist at a reasonable price. That’s how I found her in the first place. So I guess I just expected run of the mill pricing. Clearly I was wrong.

OP, I wouldn't have asked either.
