Unless you qualify for Financial aid to Dayton, the Merit Aid won't fit the bill for a B student. My daughter had a 4.3 and great ECs and was offered Merit only to the point where UD would still cost $38K a year.
Xavier in Cincinnati is similar to UD and offers way more in terms of merit aid.
I would say, in regards to the other fun schools mentioned, I don't think UVM would be a good match for what you are looking for. My daughter loved it during the tour, but later admitted that she worried the school would be too "granola" and she would be considered liberal. I think UNC Wilmington is a great idea- many kids from our HS love it there. I am not sure what the costs or merit aid are though...
OP has said multiple times that UVM is right up her daughters alley and likes the outdoorsy vibe.

NP. I’ve heard good things about Dayton.
It is a party school though, but the students seem pretty mainstream.

It’s not that much of a party school. Because you’re in a small city, you can find a thousand things to do and have a social life centered around that are not parties. Greek life is small. It’s big enough they’ll find friends. Kids come from all over (including abroad but who knows now) so it’s not just southerners like PP said. Class size is small, which is amazing.

Many students go to CoC for the art school. The school of Humanities and Social Science is the largest school.

If she loves outdoors, UNC-W is next to the beach and App state is beautiful in the mountains. If she doesn’t mind super rural in the mountains, Western Carolina is about $5500 per semester for oos.

DD graduated recently. Was in a sorority. Greek life is not nearly as big at CofC as at Alabama. As in, nothing like Alabama or Ole Miss.
Some students are conservative, but interestingly many were conservatives from the North. There is a pretty healthy counterculture in Charleston so everyone will/can find their people.
The newish President is awesome, so is basketball. DD viewed no football as a plus.
Teachers care and really teach students. The city is the campus and it is spectacular. We all loved it. The beach, the restaurants, the city all are fantastic for relaxing.
