Unless you qualify for Financial aid to Dayton, the Merit Aid won't fit the bill for a B student. My daughter had a 4.3 and great ECs and was offered Merit only to the point where UD would still cost $38K a year.
Xavier in Cincinnati is similar to UD and offers way more in terms of merit aid.
I would say, in regards to the other fun schools mentioned, I don't think UVM would be a good match for what you are looking for. My daughter loved it during the tour, but later admitted that she worried the school would be too "granola" and she would be considered liberal. I think UNC Wilmington is a great idea- many kids from our HS love it there. I am not sure what the costs or merit aid are though...
