You have to separate two issues in your mind - your default reaction to anyone you perceive as being here illegally and your belief in due process. It’s because if we don’t give them due process, we don’t have to give anyone due process. We give them due process to ensure that everyone else is guaranteed due process. This is the reason we were successful in insisting that Black Americans, Native Americans, women, Jews, and mentally disabled people got due process. It’s a red line that democracies cannot cross.


Except Democrats have been abusing the due process system. Justice delayed is justice denied. They have abused it so badly, that we cannot even process people with legitimate claims.

I feel like there is a line there. When your illegal activities interfere with someone else's right to due process and ultimately other people's rights to justice.

Keep up. The Venezuelan government has been accepting back its citizens since March. The deportees sent to CECOT were Venezuelan and Salvadoran.

DP. Not trying to be argumentative but how do you know whether or not these individuals were members of TdA--or any other gang? The administration did not provide any evidence. THEY DON'T FEEL THEY HAVE TO. That's part of the problem.

Previously, on April 7, 2025, the Supreme Court addressed the procedural aspects of such deportations. In that ruling, the Court emphasized that individuals detained under the Alien Enemies Act are entitled to:​ “Notice and an opportunity to challenge their removal.” ​

Obviously these action by the SC are not the final word on the matter, but they do show that the SC court is interested in due process--for now.

They had the option to go elsewhere right up until they get picked up for deportation. They were here illegally and they knew it. Getting deported is not a vacation or concierge service where they get to pick an adventure.


You have to separate two issues in your mind - your default reaction to anyone you perceive as being here illegally and your belief in due process. People who murder others with a thousand witnesses get due process. People who sexually abuse toddlers and livestream it get due process. It’s not because we believe they should be set free. It’s because if we don’t give them due process, we don’t have to give anyone due process. We give them due process to ensure that everyone else is guaranteed due process. This is the reason we were successful in insisting that Black Americans, Native Americans, women, Jews, and mentally disabled people got due process. It’s a red line that democracies cannot cross.

They don’t need to ship everyone down there to solidify their power. They only need to ship a small number of political enemies down there to silence dissenter and make people fearful.


I don’t understand why people who are not even from El Salvador are being sent there. I mean, technically, if you are here illegally you should not be here and should be removed to wherever you came from. I’m not sure why El Salvador is becoming a middle man.

DP. Oh please...if your DC got picked up for some visa infraction while studying in, say, the UK and was "deported" to a prison in, say, Rwanda, would you feel the same?

Also, can you explain why your president wants El Salvador to build 4-5 more prisons in El Salvador to house US "home growns"?
