Pros and cons to freedom. I’d rather people overstay their visa than live in a police state.
I'd rather live where people know better than to break laws. Law-abiding, hardworking citizens who don't break laws will be fine.
oh really. Tell that to a black man who gets pulled over and roughed up.
I bet you've broken laws.. parking, speeding, etc.. You just want to pick and choose which laws *you* think should be followed.
Like following immigration law?
The article said that she had an active asylum case pending and a legal work permit.
Also what a mom… in the midst of that awful and terrifying situation, she was calm and kept trying to reassure her scared daughter.
I hate what our country is doing to immigrants right now. They make our country what it is and our country is NOT going after criminals. They are going after all immigrants (except Elon and Melania).
It's well known that starting an asylum case that will drag on for years due to a backlog is a good way to get a work permit. Most do not qualify for asylum. The article also states that she is a known member of a gang.
You conveniently left out this sentence that follows the claim that she’s a gang member. “Her attorney says the government has not presented any evidence of any gang affiliation. She says it also hasn't presented any information detailing why she was arrested.”
No one objects to the government removing actual gang members, but they’re removing people with no evidence of gang membership and no due process. And that’s a problem for everyone in this country, citizen or not.

This is indeed scary. If I were Hispanic, I would be scared to leave my house.
Trump got elected because he said he would do this and now he has to follow through. MS-13 is just an excuse to deport brown people.
Do we know of any illegal/undocumented persons who are white, who have been taken into custody like this under Trump's 2nd term?
There are LOADS of illegal white people in America. How many have been arrested and deported recently?
There's this Canadian woman.

Anyone who supports Trump doesn’t give a single shit about enforcing the laws of our country.
I agree but if Biden hadn't screwed up on border policy we wouldn't have Trump today.
I am very upset about Biden. Him personally, and the oddities that happened under his leadership. I know it may sounds petty, but I need someone to admit mistakes (or at least one, like he was not well) before I can move on.
Biden was a GREAT president.
How can you tell?
Look at the Trump crap show now.
We were TOO STUPID to know how good we had it.

Guess what? Firing the people who do the paperwork for those on temporary protected status will not speed up the process.

+1 People need to obey laws and do what police ask.
People have certain protections under the law, including the 4th amendment which protects people from unreasonable searches and seizures by the government. For example, the police can't enter your home if you don't invite them in unless they have a warrant or believe someone is in imminent danger.
If a police officer orders you to step out of the vehicle, you are legally required to cooperate. The police can tell someone to step out of their car for any reason. There is Supreme Court case law (Pennsylvania v. Mimms, 1977) that gives cops the authority to do this. Any decent lawyer with half a brain would tell someone that’s been pulled over to cooperate with the police and not resist. If a police officer tells you to step out and you refuse, you will be forcibly removed from the vehicle and arrested. If you roll up the window, they will break it open and proceed to arrest you. Needless to say, if you’re pulled over and told to step out of the car, just do it. The place to argue is the courtroom, not the side of the road. Noncompliance won’t get you anywhere but jail.

I can't believe it. Watch the video. It's heartbreaking. Horrifying.
I don't speak much Spanish, but it appears they didn't have a judicial warrant.
OMG. This is our country????
I'm sure you'd all be cheering if it were a grandma who had walked into the Capitol Building being terrorized by the FBI.
She refused to obey the orders of law enforcement and found out. When law enforcement tells you to get out of the car, there is no Constitutional right to refuse to obey them and sit in your car thinking your magic window shields you from following the instructions of law enforcement. She found out.

WTAF are you talking about? Our country is being sold to Russia by the worst SOB we’ve ever produced. Stop whining about Biden, it’s embarrassing and irrelevant.
Acknowledging past mistakes is the first step in avoiding repeating those past mistakes. We need a strong two term worthy POTUS elected in 2028 and anything less is unacceptable. If someone says "hey, let's nominate this 80 year old person" in 2028.... tell them to shove the eff off!
Just stop. Trump, Musk, and cronies literally dismantling our democracy while simultaneously crashing the economy has literally nothing to do with Biden, Harris, Obama, Bush, Clinton, or anyone else.
Stop pretending there was any reason it was rational for voters to put this guy in office a second time.
