Prove it. Right, you can't. Because it's absolute nonsense.

FFS. It absolutely IS NOT. Look around you. Read some ACTUAL news, not the right wing fake news. Republicans are detaining and deporting all kinds of people who are legally in the US. Republicans are even illegally detaining Germans here on visa.

You are so ignorant and oblivious it isn't even funny. I can't imagine being so absolutely ignorant about American politics and presuming to post on a political message board. It's like a toddler going on a forum about space exploration telling others you think the moon is made of green cheese.

You should be embarrassed. Please, just go away, do some reading, and don't come back here until you actually have a clue what you're talking about.

A hilarious, yet not at all surprising reply. As predicted, you failed to offer any proof to support your claim. "Look around" & "read actual news" is not evidence of anything other than your empty, nonsensical, parroting of propaganda.
You're more than welcome to tell us all about your "actual news" sources so that I may discredit/dismantle them/your claim accordingly.
Your juvenile attempts at insult warrant no response, by the way.

"Republicans are detaining and deporting all kinds of people who are legally in the US."
Don't tell me, show me. Your broad brush statement is devoid of facts & means nothing.

"Republicans are even illegally detaining Germans here on visa."
Do you know why that handful of cases/Germans are being detained?
Of course you don't, because those details have not been divulged.

Were you this upset when Biden moved to have this German family deported?
Of course you weren't...
The Romeike Family's Situation:
1. The Romeike family, who immigrated to the United States in 2008 after facing persecution in Germany for homeschooling, had been facing the possibility of deportation.
2. Immigration Status and Legal Battles: The family lacks legal status in the U.S., but they had been allowed to stay under deferred action status, which allows for prosecutorial discretion in deportation decisions.
3. Initial Notification of Deportation: In early September 2023, the family was notified that they had four weeks to secure German passports or face deportation.
4. Public Outcry and Political Action: After news of their impending deportation spread, there was a significant public outcry, with over 100,000 people signing a petition and 45 Tennessee lawmakers signing a letter urging the Biden administration to reconsider the family's case.
5. Stay of Removal Granted: Following the public outcry and political action, the Biden administration granted the Romeike family a one-year stay of removal.
6. Ongoing Efforts to Secure Permanent Status: The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) has been actively working to secure permanent resident status for the family and has created a petition calling on the White House to grant them the protections they have been provided since relocating.
7. HSLDA is representing the family legally
8. Uwe Romeike is a piano accompanist at Carson-Newman University
9. Lydia Romeike is married to reality TV personality Trace Bates
10. Two of the family's children are married to American citizens
11. Two of the family's children are U.S. citizens

Just to be clear:
the 6th circuit appeals panel said being fined and kids required to go to public school was not persecution.
Being represented by the HSLDA will definitely give them an advantage under this administration.
Diana Harshbarger, R-TN has been advocating for them and strongly supports getting rid of the DOE.
In this case, politics means they're golden. And that is what this is all about. You can be deported to face torture but not if you are Christian homeschoolers facing fines and public school attendance.

I dare say few to no Republicans have any issue with you. You have a green card, so you are here legally. You are not advocating for the violent overthrow of a U.S. ally, so you're not engaging in activity inimical to this country's interests. You're not patently antisemitic and consequently unworthy of living among civilized people. You're not breaking any of our laws.

You're fine. Be welcome. Don't succumb to hysteria fostered by ignorant doomsayers.

But when OP visits family in Canada and is stopped at the border while trying to come back, and CBP deports him/her to El Salvador because he/she “liked” something on Facebook that is “woke,” you will turn a blind eye.

You missed this part: "Don't succumb to hysteria fostered by ignorant doomsayers."

It seems to me like every other thread here is doom and gloom end of the world stuff. This seems to be something that came around in the last 20 years.

Is everything really so dramatic in your life?

I don't think it happened 20 years ago. I think it was around 2016 when a felon and rapist ran for president. Then there was Covid that he botched and then MAGA incited a violent insurrections on J6 to keep him in office. Now for a second time the same lying convicted felon is in the White House spewing daily hatred for most Americans. But don't worry if you are a rich billionaire he will take care of you and you will survive in his hateful, cold, cruel world.

You are truly a victim...a victim of the purveyors of perpetual propaganda.

I'm terrified of the new administration revoking my green card over a new executive order. I have been an advocate for victims of abuse who are disabled. Funding is being cut for social programs, from Meals on Wheels to adult day health programs. I don't want my kid to die from a preventable disease and choose to vaccinate.

All I hear are complaints about immigrants, waste fraud and abuse, and lazy government workers. Why do you hate us so much?

We used to unify ourselves by hating the Soviet Union. When the iron curtain fell, we saw that hatred turn inward and racism spiked again.

We hated Muslims after 9/11 and others again felt a sense of unity. That has faded.

So we turned on one another by political party.

Offshoots of that include progressives hating police. That hatred generated a lot of momentum that made people feel antiracist and therefore provided a sense of unity, particularly against the racists.

And now, MAGA has turned conservatives against government employees. It has generated a lot of momentum to focus on dismantling the feds, making another group of people feel righteous, again providing a sense of unity.

I'm not sure why we must de-humanize different groups to make ourselves feel better about ourselves. But it seems to be an enduring American trait.

Stop making it into a personal attack. MAGA is not against government employees, we're against the NGO's & offshoots of the government that are stealing OUR money. And we're not going to get lectured to by those of you that have been virtue-signaling & dehumanizing anyone that doesn't conform and fall into lockstep with destructive ideologies & policies the left has been pushing for the past decade. Try some introspection instead.

This is from the State Dept website and is dated Jan 20:

Areas of Activity for NGOs in the United States
Approximately 1.5 million NGOs operate in the United States. These NGOs undertake a wide array of activities, including political advocacy on issues such as foreign policy, elections, the environment, healthcare, women’s rights, economic development, and many other issues. They often develop and address new approaches to social and economic problems that governments cannot address alone. Many NGOs in the United States operate in fields that are not related to politics. These include volunteer organizations rooted in shared religious faith, labor unions, groups that help vulnerable people, such as the poor or disabled, and groups that seek to empower youth or marginalized populations. Indeed, NGOs exist to represent virtually every cause imaginable. Their sources of finance include donations from private individuals (American or foreign), private sector for-profit companies, philanthropic foundations, or grants from federal, state, or local government. Sources of finance may also include foreign governments. There is no prohibition in U.S. law on foreign funding of NGOs; whether that foreign funding comes from governments or non-government sources.
