Not Palestinian but I agree! (And I haven’t been to Starbucks in years).

1) They allowed homeless people to take over their stores. That was probably the end of the brand seeming upscale.

2) Nail in the coffin after Covid was hiring anyone with a pulse. Many of the workers look like freaks who just rolled out of bed. Dirty, tons of tattoos, nasty colored hair, piercings, and dingy uniforms.

I also stopped going for three reasons. 1. It's crazy expensive. 2. They want me to tip their staff on top of that 3.) I also support Palestine. We should have given half of Germany to the Jews and let the Palestinians live their lives.

I worked at Starbucks many years ago before the automation. I wouldn't want to work there now. Once you give people free agency on how to customize their drinks, you really open Pandora's box. Some of the drinks were already a pain to make so I can only imagine with all the new drinks and choice making and online ordering, that the job can be a bit soul sucking.
When I worked there they were very big on 'third home" where they wanted the customer to feel like this was a place to come and linger. Now, it is more of a fast food take out.

Last time I was at Starbucks I was grossly overcharged. They have removed prices from plain view so you're not sure what something costs in these days of increasing prices. Creamers/sugar/stirrers no longer at the discretion of the consumer. Places are not clean. Unisex bathrooms are gross. Their coffee is genuinely no longer a delightful experience to consume. It's over-roasted with a burnt flavor.

I called my local Starbucks to inquire how much my drink costs once I was home. I was not in the mood to battle out price while at the store. They overcharged me by several dollars. It's not enough they're charging $6 for a cup of coffee, but they're overcharging?

Last time I was at Starbucks was three months ago. Not sure when I'll go again.

It is stupidly expensive. I only do it as a rare treat if out shopping for the day with dd. But generally speaking, coffee places are expensive. We drink coffee at home.

Their coffee is actually terrible, horribly bitter.

+1. It doesn't feel premium or hip in any way. The employee caliber is terrible. Staff are either weird, look dirty, they're angry, or all the above. How can Chick-fil-A hire all upbeat happy clean-cut staff but Starbucks with good pay, insurance, and free college can't?

I know, right? The tattoo, dirty purple haired people are a turn off.

They don't make drinks anymore, they push a button. And the baristas aren't cute and hip college girlies, they're slovenly and cranky. That said, if you can get a WFH fake email job, why would you work at a coffee shop. So I guess it's predictable that their applicant pool took a dive.

Agreed. We still have a couple of nice ones near me, but most are appalling.

Plus, it's too expensive. I would say I've dropped from 4x a week to once.

I travel all around for work and the entire metro’s Starbucks seem pretty dead.

They stopped with bonus stars around November. We had a meals tax and there has been hardly anyone there since.
