I posted earlier. We are keeping our trip to Disney in May. The kids are really looking forward to it (it was a Xmas present) and I feel like I want them to retain as much normalcy as possible. We have money set aside.

Cancelled spring break cruise. Too much $$$ to spend on a luxury item like that. Waiting to see if feel secure enough to visit family in the summer. My vote would be to skip it this year but it’s my spouse’s family, so I think his vote wins.

Cancelled multiple streaming subscriptions, not buying any clothes or home goods. Hoping our washing machine survives another few years even though it’s suffering.

Well... if you were "just in Switzerland" you were likely asked for your passports at hotels. Pretty clear with that, even if you aren't "wearing American flag clothing." The minute you open your mouth it is clear as well to most people.


NP -I’ve been traveling for many years and have never dealt with issues at hotels. This is not the first time we’ve had a crappy president. Maybe try communicating more respectfully in the local language at check in. Or are you one of those who barks in English at hospitality workers wherever you go? “The minute you open your mouth” tells me exactly what kind of traveler you are.

Cancelled spring break but still holding on to summer reservations. Economy aside, I’m worried about how Trump and co. are pissing off everyone in the world. The EU, Canada. Plus they are gutting the FBI, CIA, and other agencies while making comments about making Gaza a resort area. Doesn’t seem to bode well for future terrorist threats. It’s all very scary and uncertain.

DH is a contractor (retired fed) and I work in sales for a company that sells to fed, state, local govts and commercial companies. We have held off on a summer vacation. We just aren't sure and would rather save the money. We live in a southern red state (in a significantly large blue dot right in the middle) and if you cancel your trips to red states please call the reps there and tell them why. I'll be emailing my loser of a Senator today.

Call the SC senators and congressmen and tell them. If you are a fed canceling a vacation call the state senators of that state and tell them, especially if you were planning on taking a trip to a red state.
