Anyone get in off a waitlist?

Disappointing but makes sense. (I guess I'm better off pinning my hopes on my own kid getting into Hunter than I am on somebody else getting in and opening up a spot)

I highly doubt it but crazier things have happened. I doubt any school loses more than 1-2 students to Hunter in a year (I'm guessing that 90+% of Hunter 7th graders come from public school), and those results come out pretty late. Plus 7th grade is generally not a normal entry point at most schools. If a school happened to lose student(s) and if they happened to have a candidate they were very excited about there is a chance they would make it work. But I wouldn't count on it.

Would be extremely rare as any withdrawing parents would be leaving their tuition deposit plus addition other payments behind.

Top schools typically start going to the waitlist before the deposit deadline.

But there could always be exceptional cases.

Interesting, thanks! Any views out there on how the kindergarten gifted and talented decisions in April impact the May 1 decision? Unsure on if there’s overlap in the two applicant pools.

My guess is that it has virtually no impact, though definitely greater than zero. Especially not for higher ranked privates. G&T has been largely diluted so really doesn't mean much. I personally think that it is a waste of time at the elementary level, particularly if you are zoned for a good gen ed school, but that is a topic for another thread.

The high school results coming out today could definitely impact things, but that is a different topic.
