If I remember correctly the last time they did an early release a few years ago it was a crap show and they haven’t done one since. It wouldn’t surprise me if they just preemptively close on Tuesday.

That makes no sense considering the snow isn't even starting until at least 11. It's not going to be bad until Tuesday night.

Can’t they do an early dismissal?

They need to decide hours before the end of the day to do an early dismissal.

Yes. Early dismissal is more problematic for parents. They don’t like to do it.

Yep, it's a logistical nightmare (buses, parents, the rush before the weather gets too bad/worsens).

It's like asking a cruise ship to make a u turn . The county is huge and cumbersome with a lot of moving parts and with intra-county teachers and activities.
An early release is guaranteed chaos

The traffic becomes a nightmare on those kind of days as well.

Yes and they have before. If snow is not going to start til about 3 or so then they can do an early dismissal. Any earlier though and they will just do a full cancel.

One year they waited and it started earlier it was not good getting kids and staff home. I think they are cautious with early dismissals.

For the love of God no early releases. All of the kids with no parents at home end up rolling back to school on the bus and it’s even more dangerous.

Let’s call it Tues/Wed. Temps look good on Thursday to get some learning in to finish the week.

It looks as if the snow accumulation on Tuesday might start later in the day, so schools will have to decide whether to open on Tuesday with an early release, or close entirely. Wednesday closed for sure, because it will continue to snow during the night and early on Wednesday morning.

Weather.com is showing 1-3” during the day Tues and 3-5” at night. Mixed precip less than 1” Weds and cloudy and 48 Thurs. It’s not going to get super cold at any point, so provided we have enough plows and salt (ha ha ha), road conditions may not be that bad for that long. Fingers crossed for only Tues/Weds off.

You also HAVE to serve lunch if it’s an instructional day so they can’t do a dismissal at like 10 am.
