If I were a federal contractor, you know the big boys, I would be a little miffed that all of these plumb reform and software jobs are just being usurped by Musk instead of going through the normal procurement process. And how is to say the Amercian Taxpayer is getting the best value with Mush instead of competitive bidding with other firms like SAIC, Delloitte, PWC, Accenture etc?
The people laid off are not air traffic controllers. They are support personnel that clean the facilities, maintain equipment, etc. Not great if equipment starts breaking, but not an immediate threat to safety.

So non of the actual ATCs can’t possibly be probationary. Also, ATCs are not eligible for the fork buyout because they are considered essential. What’s with all the fear mongering? Having said that, I don’t mind if you all stop flying. Looking forward to less crowded airports and flights.

The term he needed was "interoperable." He's saying the different flight systems aren't interoperable. I would imagine that would have been fixed if funding had been appropriated for that purpose because Congress, not the President, controls funding.

Can we go back to speaking like normal people?
Anonymous wrote:"FAA staff fired over the weekend included personnel that worked radar, landing and navigational aid maintenance, among others. Hundreds were fired, just weeks after a fatal mid-air collision in DC killed 67. One employee said they were subjected to relentless harassment by SpaceX employees claiming to be DOGE agents before being fired which made it increasingly difficult for them to work. It was made clear that all this was retaliation over FAA's assessment of a fine against SpaceX over a missile that exploded in the upper atmosphere, jeopardizing air traffic."
