But I did own TSLA stock and these people made me quite a bit of money. Thank you.

Better sell that stock soon or you will not make any money!

EVs are a superior version of a car. They are cheap to run, fun to drive and very convenient to charge. Never having to stop at a gas station is the best. I do not even know what gas prices are.

I do not own a Tesla but another manufacturer. We got the full tax credit and the EV was cheaper vs the gas model. DC was no taxes on EV, no emissions test, no “special” fee for EV and gave a $1,500 to install a charger. Not paying an excise tax on EV was a big savings(like 5-6%). Now I a pay about $8-$10 for equivalent of a tank of gas and no stopping at the gas station because I charge at home(and I am always ending up a home).

If Trump would let the Chinese cars in they would be priced around half of what the equivalent gas car. The way the market is trending EVs will be a lot cheaper vs gas cars. It takes half the man hours to make. Once they get up to size and scale of gas powered car manufacturing you could see really nice new cars costing between $10-$20k.

So this poster probably doesn’t make much money relative to the DC area if they qualified for the full $7500 tax credit and other breaks. You only qualified for the credit if your AGI was below $150K filing single or $300K filing jointly. But good deal nonetheless. Personally I would never qualify for this credit.

Honestly when I see a cybertruck I have to restrain myself from keying it and getting arrested.

We have one. Would like to sell it but can't take the financial hit right now. I hate that we have to drive around in it and our neighbors see it in our driveway.

I paid $22K for my 2024 Toyota Corolla Hybrid. Are there EVs priced at this point in the US? If not what is the premium I would pay an equivalent EV. What’s my break even point.

What gas model are you comparing to where you think the EV model was cheaper than the gas model? Be specific. Don’t compare your cheaply made EV to a BMW.

I love my Tesla, bought it before Elon was involved in politics, but would consider buying another one if I can get a bargain. I could guess there will be people selling their used cars for political reasons and prices may drop. I wouldn't mind picking up a used X model for some extra space when I find a good deal. I've been hunting for a used 3 row SUV for a while and not seeing anything decent and not bulky or sluggish or too $$$ and gas guzzling. Our test drives of affordable gas models and especially hybrids were incredibly underwhelming.

IDGAF about politics, none of the parties made my life better, in fact both have created problems for me.

This is so true. Seeing what the prior administrations spent our money on, the ones before, and who knows what is to come.

If y’all still think we’re asking “who wore it better? republicans or democrats?” here then you must be even stupider than I feared…

We can't get another car right now, and doing so would be bad for the environment since there is nothing wrong with this one (except the guy who owns the company has lost his mind and soul, if ever he had one), so it is what it is. And it's actually a great car, so there's that too. We don't own any Tesla stock.

If you want to take something out on Elon, go after Elon, not your neighbors. We need to get our kids to school and ourselves to work. A car is a car. I don't get people who side eye someone for the car they drive as if it means they agree with Elon's current politics. That's just not realistic.

I side eye anyone I see in a Tesla truck. Though on the other hand, Tesla trucks are the best form of male birth control that's been produced this century. No woman is touching a guy who drives one of those things.

is it because more than expected teslas are being dumped onto the market? or has ev suddenly lost its appeal as a viable used car option? what did the industry fail to foresee?

I think most people are scared to buy a used EV. (New EVs are scary enough for them). But there is huge value in doing so. Very happy with mine (non-Tesla) and it has been the cheapest cost of ownership of any car I have ever owned.
