My DH is a police officer. He makes considerably more than me, a teacher with advanced degrees. He also gets paid overtime while I work all weekend for free.
I'm presuming he didn't start out at 90K per year?
He started out $10K more than me. (We began our careers together.) He also received a signing bonus. Meanwhile, I spent a lot of my first paycheck buying supplies for my empty classroom.
There’s the potential for a good salary in law enforcement.
