Also Wicked sucked big time.

I think this list sucks. And I thought Wicked was way too long and felt too long. A complete unknown was okay but nothing happened. I do think Timmy is a good actor though!
You could not be more low-brow if you tried.

I agree, posted on another thread Jean-Baptiste was my #1 but now Torres is.
Torres and Moore are pretty much a tie for me. Love both performances, for different reasons.
The Torres blackface controversy is pretty bad. There are two different rumors about camps dropping opp research (including the Demi Moore kissing one before the Globes) on the competition: one claims Netflix is behind it, one claims Erivo's camp is behind it. I think either could be true, but Erivo seems more likely if we're talking about Best Actress. Gascon isn't seen as a likely winner, but Torres and Moore sure are. If their reputations are dented, helps Erivo and Madison the most. Madison is so young, and wisely has no socials, so there's probably no dirt to be had on her.
In Brazil, it's generally understood that the attacks on Torres are coming from supporters of Gascon. It happened long ago, and mores about blackface in Brazil were not the same as they were in the USA at the time.
I found Emilia Perez to be unwatchable. I liked Zoe Saldano's commitment to her role, but the movie is just indulgent crap that most Mexicans find deeply offensive.
Moore and Torres should remain the front-runners if the award has anything to do with a performance.
Now Gascon has come out saying Torres's camp is behind attacks on her / EP. After that, Gascon's islamophobic tweets were dredged up. It's getting very ugly.

The only reason she still gets roles though, is about how she looks. You have to look as young as possible for as long as possible in Hollywood, that's just a given.
