Basis DC Instagram already shows 3 UPenn admits out of a class of about 40-44?

I do think it helped but she was a very strong applicant: 1540 SAT from a top NYC private, top grades, highest difficulty and a competitive science research program. The thing is it’s all a gamble. My kid was denied at my (much less impressive) alma mater after they lost her application and found it in June (when they had already announced they were over enrolled). If your child is in the running for Penn, they should have some good admissions even if they have bad luck with that one school. Maybe it will be Cornell or Amherst or Northwestern or CalTech - but your kids are destined to great things.

That last line was such a kind comment I had to quote to say thank you. Tensions are high over here and you injected some humanity. Much appreciated.

There’s a kid who didn’t get in just ranting on LinkedIn.

Anyone seen it?

Legacy that’s also a very strong student goes a long way towards getting admitted at Penn in ED

Know 3 legacy kids who got in yesterday, but one legacy kid of 8-figure donor who was deferred. NYC area.

Not minimizing. Many legacy kids with stronger stats and amazing EC were deferred and rejected from my kid's school. Not negating legacy boost but need something beyond that and beyond raw stats. Just my observation...

Yep. I know double legacy kid from Big 3 who was rejected yesterday.

That use to be the case, but Penn has retracted the language that said that.
