Why the cutoff at top 10, rather than top 20 (where many MD counties are)? And even more importantly, who in their right mind picks a place to live based on it being in the top 10 median income? Only status-obsessed people think this way.

None of Nova's cities/places make the top 10 or 20 of the most diverse places in the country. MoCo by itself has 4 in the top 20, 3 in the top 10.

I live in Moco and our house has appreciated 20 percent since 2020. But I also think you should just live where you want to live and not stress about making top dollar on it. Houses are for living in.

Well, it doesn’t seems true for MD, because average housing price is much higher in MD than VA.
Look at Baltimore and bad areas of DC. The property values will continue to go down if there is a good amount of voucher housing and a lot of them go to Blacks.
But , they are still higher than the trailer parks of VA

Hardly the case. Construction in NoVA is not as dated, especially when you include Loudon county.
