I don’t think this is true. Most teachers don’t love half days. What teachers want is their planning time.
Half days are MCEA's idea for more planning time.
No, they want their planning periods which are being taken away due to lack of subs.
Then MCEA needs to push for higher sub pay. It is ridiculously low.
This maybe a big reason for closing on many holidays next year, yes some students will be out but in a public school system schools can close on holidays for secular reasons only, attendance issues. Even if less than 10% will be out on some of those days if there are a lack of subs due to low pay the schools have to choice to close anyways.
