Gaetz gave up a shoo-in House seat and now ends up with nothing.

He WILL BE nominated to Rubio's seat ... no doubt about it. I think the AG was a hail mary ploy, knowing very well it had a low probability of occurring. Yesterday's meetings were mere confirmation from the Senate GOP that his lack of experience would doom him more than some tantalizing report about sex with minors and drug-fueled parties (because let's face it, the MAGA world, including the head of MAGA doesn't give two shits about it). Given that his qualifications were in question, he backs down, knowing that FL will need a Senate filler and guess what folks, you've now moved him from the lower chamber to the upper chamber. Who's coming out on top here??? Certainly not the Dems! (Or bullshit CNN media personalities who can't figure out a power play. That's the problem with the left--y'all are not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to a game of chess.)

Actually this is very weird…I’m assuming he was forced to step down by team Trump once the extent of his crimes were revealed.
I agree with this. He didn’t make any sense for AG, and I wonder what was going on behind the scenes. I had a feeling something like this would happen but you never can tell.
Basically, a ploy to get him out of the way. Now the congressional records can be released and he will disappear.

+1 It was his punishment for the McCarthy BS. Everyone wanted him out. This was never going to come to fruition.

Spare us your faux outrage. You voted for a convicted felon who was also convicted of sexual abuse. You are as despicable as trump and Gaetz!
Trump is neither a convicted felon nor convicted of sexual abuse.
He is awaiting sentencing in New York. Guess you forgot.
He was found liable of rape. He was not convicted of it.
He's an awful, stupid human being but that's not a crime.

In New York, he was found guilty of falsifying business records, aka fraud. His sentencing hearing was delayed and now prosecutors are open to delaying sentencing until after his presidential term is ended.

Found guilty is not a conviction. There has been no conviction entered.
False. He has not been sentenced yet but "conviction" just means "finding of guilt." He was found guilty, he has been convicted. The only way to undo that is for the conviction to be overturned on appeal. Sentencing is a separate proceeding and does not impact conviction.
He could also be pardoned and that would remove the "convicted felon" label but in the present day he is a convicted felon.
That is not true.
