Harris said she believes she lost because of “certain people driving a narrative” focusing on the Beidleman scandal “without anybody actually attending to the work” the board did to address the issue.

“The board did the work to move the leadership out that we needed to and create the conditions by being calm and not kowtowing to the drama and really focusing the work on what’s happening in the schools, what’s happening in the classrooms,” Harris said.

This is not the only reason. It shows she is tone death.

Now federal trikes for public education will suck

The federal government doesn't do much for K-12 education. They might try to encourage vouchers, but they can't really force it. And vouchers wouldn't be so bad. It would be good for MCPS to have to deal with a little competition. Vouchers would probably be a pretty effective tool for preventing MCPS from adopting a bunch of early release days. And would similarly stop the unions from pushing for changes to state law to allow 4 day school weeks.

The last thing we need is to divert dollars from our system to have vouchers. We already have enough areas that are underfunded. Maryland's Blueprint for Education costs are going to drive up taxes enough.

The last thing we need are more early release days or 4 day school weeks. I agree that we don't want to pull funding away from public schools, but making private schools more of a credible alternative to public schools is the only way to address the stranglehold teachers unions have over state and local politics.

Where do you think the money for vouchers comes from?

Glad she lost, and I regret voting for her.

Who says this?? Try to be a little gracious.

"Certain people"? It's weird she still won't call out MCEA's corruption.

What corruption are you referring to? Can you cite a single credible incident or is this just some far-right anti-inion fantasy?

Their activities during the election are the most recent examples. The most blantant is probably when they were organizing an illegal strike in response to reopening plans.

No moms4liberty was the most important outcome here.
Now we fight against prayer in schools and no department of education. We are entering a horrific stage for public education ugh
Yes, and Yang and Rivera-Oven are pretty new and still getting up to speed too. Only Silvestre and Wolff will have been there more than 2 years.

Silvestere and Wolff need to go next.

The problem is that you could end up with someone worse, like Zimmerman. Hopefully voters learn from the disaster of this election.

So you hope the new board is a disaster, such that people will be discouraged from voting for Apple Ballot candidates next time? Strange priorities. I choose to wish the new members well, regardless of how my votes were cast, and hope that they will succeed.

Considering your reading comprehension level, let's just say I'm glad that no one who was on the BoE when you were educated in MCPS is currently serving.

You prematurely say the new BOE members are a disaster and worse than the current members, and hope voters learn from this. Sounds like you have your mind made up and aren't willing to give them a chance.
NP. We know who they are and what their ideologies are and 2 of the 3 are far far far left. So yes, they will be a disaster.

Diaz would have been horrific

Diaz is a nutjob, but would have been harmless. You really ought to worry more about what Zimmerman will do for MCEA.

Drop this inane argument already. It didn't work, and the election is over.

The point is that it's true, and now we need to prepare for the consequences.

Who's "we"? Voters preferred Zimmerman by a 12 point margin.

And those voters, along with everyone else, are going to have to live with the consequences of that. Hopefully people will watch the activities of the board to try to keep her in check. But that's hard when MCEA owns the entire board at this point.

If you want non-MCEA endorsees to be elected in two years, you should start looking for better candidates now.

That's half of it. We need better voters, too.

Sounds like a real winning campaign strategy: tell the voters they're stupid.

We shouldn't ignore the real issue. As long as voters remain ignorant, we're going to continue to have bad election outcomes up and down the ballot.

Or maybe you’re arrogant to think you know better than the electorate about what’s best? You sound like a dictator.

You've got some serious problems with judgement if you don't think the last 8 years have demonstrated that the electorate is filled with idiots that are easily manipulated with lies.

Have you thought about moving away from Montgomery County or even out of the U.S.? I think you'd be happier.

Both. And yes, if the weather was better in Canada I'm sure I'd be happier there.

Climate change will make it warmer there, so you should go ahead and make the move and take your miserable self over there.

I appreciate your attempt at optimism, but we're really in quite an awful situation.
