I haven’t heard of them either but I’m not into boots. My parents got me a leather jacket I really wanted as a teen. I know it was a lot for them and I LOVED that jacket and wore it for so long.

I would buy them if you can afford it. I never spend that much on presents but spend more than that on Taylor Swift tickets and don’t regret it at all. It was a memory for a lifetime. If she wants the boots that bad, buy them for her if you can.

Getting her one thing she really wants is so much better than a bunch of stuff she only line of wants. A nice pair of boots is a classic purchase - she will own them forever.

YES! Maybe have her try a half size up — if they’re comfortable— just in case. This is a investment purchase, that she really wants, that seems like it’s for two major gift-giving holidays. They really will last for years. If she hasn’t had shoes like this, in about a year, make sure that she knows that heels and soles can be replaced, and to replace the heels before they wear down completely.

OP, I’m usually against giving into expensive teen whims but this is a quality product, she’s 18, and you can combine your budget and grandparent’s budge towards them. One big gift is often better.

Tall boots are back in style. It won’t last long, but they tend to cycle back and forth.

Yes. As long as they are timeless/not trendy. Frye boots super high quality, last forever, and can be re-soled. The older they get, the cooler they look.

I am really against spending a lot of money on fashion stuff but I don’t think this is a bad purchase. Good shoes are really important for life and I think it’s better to spend hundreds on quality shoes that will last decades rather than just buying crap. Make sure she knows about ccoblers — if the heel starts to wear, you can usually get them replaced cheaply but if you want too long you may damage the structural part of the heel. And also how to care for leather.

It sounds like it’s really a combination Christmas and birthday present? If she really wants them, will take good care of them and have them for a long time, agrees she will not get any other significant presents, and as otherwise not a materialistic kid who runs after the latest trends, then I would get them.

OP, as others have said, I would do this. 18 is a big birthday plus Christmas and they really do last forever. I have a couple of pairs of Frye boots and they are amazing. Just make sure if she ever no longer wants them that she thinks twice because they *will* come back around. I got rid of some pairs of Doc Martens from college and wish I still had them!
