Well, they do cater a bit more to the British crowd. Ideally, I would love the Italian breakfast with more salami, prosciutto, and bread. I am not sure what you dislike about my breakfasts, though. I am in heaven with the breakfast; it is the highlight of my day.

Yes, it is very common in Italy to have a lot of cold cuts, prosciutto, hams, salamis, and good bread, and you make open-face sandwiches. Additionally many pastries will be offered. Have you never been to Italy or Europe to see what makes a good breakfast buffer?
Fruit is offered too.
I tried to steer clear of breakfast buffet hotels. In Italy, I was a coffee and roll with jam breakfaster -- when in Rome and all that
