He was 19 to her 14. I am a little older than they are and can say that in my world (suburban NY) no one would have batted an eye toward a couple of those respective ages back then. Plenty of 14 yr old girls had french kissed. I briefly dated a 19 yr old as a 14/15 yr old, and in college dated a senior as a freshman. Even in hindsight with a 50 yr old’s perspective, I would never say I was taken advantage of.
My kids feel like you do - they are horrified if a senior in their HS dates a sophomore. That was probably the most common couple age gap in my HS.
Bullshit. I'm a Gen X'er and this was creepy as all hell in the early 90s. 14 is an 8th or 9th grader, 19 could be a college sophomore. On what planet is a college sophomore trying to bone an 8th grader normal? It's predatory as hell. I think you must be some PR firm to post some crap like this.
That age spread was not uncommon during high school in the 80s. By the mid 90s it became icky.
I graduated in 1989 and another in 1985. Lots of freshmen girls dated seniors. I had several high school friends dating college guys, and knew a few dating men in their early 20s (like 16/17/18 dating 21/22/23/24 year old men, although they did have to sneak to get that past parents.) Several of them married and are still married.
My sisters graduated 1992 & 1995. By then, the guys doing this were considered losers and predators.
Bullshit. And this was the early 2000s, not 40 or 50 years ago. He’s clearly a predator. Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future. Diddy and Masterson were his BEST FRIENDS.
How young are you?
A 3 to 6 year age spread was not uncommon at all during high school in the 80s.
The people in question on this thread didn’t go to high school in the 80s so why do you keep bringing this up as though it’s relevant?

He id five years her senior. No need to exaggerate. She was born in '83. Kutcher born in 78. That 70's show was 1998. With that said, I would have forbade my daughter from dating someone with a five-year age difference so young. It is my understanding that he did not date Mila until 2012, after Brittney and Demi.
His birthday is in Feb, so for half of every year, he is 6 years older than she. In other words, she could have been an 8th grader and he could have been a college sophomore. And he was betting his rapist buddy who could get in her pants first. He is also on record saying all of his buddies were keeping track of when Hillary Duff turned 18. He’s clearly a creep. Diddy and Masterson were his best friends.

I'm also GenX from suburban NY, and agree that a freshman and senior dating was not a huge deal in the '90's. My mother was not a fan of it, and told me the only reason a much older guy goes for a much younger girl is because a girl his age will see through his BS, so I never dated anyone more than two grades ahead of me (freshman to jr, for example).

I posted it, and I was in 9th grade at 14 (until end of October) and a senior could have been 19. But let’s say 18, okay? It would not have been shocking for a senior to date a freshman (which is what I meant I was).
Right, back in the 90s, a senior and a freshman probably raised some eyebrows but it wasn’t unheard of.
But that’s not what happened here. Ashton entered college in August 1996. That same month, Mila turned 13. A year later, on the 70s Show, you have a “never been kissed” 14 year old and a guy who had been to and subsequently dropped out of college. That’s gross.
Eh, they were both actors…acting.
ICYMI: all kinds of weird stuff happens on set. The actors and their parents know this going into it.
Plus, I don’t buy the “never been kissed” innocent 14 year old thing. She seemed much more mature than he appeared.
Regardless, the two have been married for a long time now. This really isn’t the scandal some are suggesting it is.
I hope you’re being paid for this crap. He groomed her and then married her. Cool.
