A few years? Probably by the end of 2024 or early 2025. She doesn’t seem well at all now.
She has already said that she is bi-polar.
And? Why is that suddenly an issue? There seems to be a lot more going on.
Because when she was booking the shows she was the side act that nobody listened to. She is now the front act and being chased by paparazzi.
She courted fame but now can’t deal. She isn’t cut out for this after all. Her skin is way too thin.
Absolutely but it is sad because I still like her music a lot. Why does the crappy fandom
And fame have to go along with being a musician?
This is why most people would never choose it. But she did.
She did and now maybe she will unchoose it. But I find it sad because she is talented and fun. It seems the only people who can “handle” the fame become kind of plastic, or at least their public persona becomes plastic and the music a bit boring.
The anger directed at her is sort of crazy. Like people have all these expectations about pop princesses and fan’s right to musicians and concerts. Can’t we just enjoy the music and how the musician delivers that to you is up to them. cant we enjoy the music without all the fandom drama?
I guess not, but I think we miss out on some talented people if that continues to be the stance. Who wants to be Taylor swift or Beyoncé? They aren’t free people at all- they are beholden to public opinion in a way that ends up stunting creativity in music. How can a musician create without all the fandoms crap? I guess many on DVUM think they can’t, but I think we are missing out on great songs if that is a hard line.

She could make music but not tour.
That is definitely one factor, but the other is her attitude about it. People are bringing up Taylor and Simone, but they are very gracious with their fans. There’s been several instances where chapel acts annoyed at her fans, especially with the video telling people they need to use critical thinking skills in choosing how to vote, and the way she talked to photographers on the red carpet at the VMAs. I’m guessing she may be neurodivergent with the way she interacts with people, which unfortunately sometimes you come off way that you don’t intend. I hate to say it, but she sure is unlikable at times.
Well, probably most people are unlikealbe at times. Simone definitely seems gracious with her fans, but she gets less of the paps and fandom than pop princesses do.. Taylor has always seemed manipulative with her fan base and Beyoncé seems like she tries to ice queen people away. Chapell is yelling at fans and the paps to get space. They all handle fame differently, but the thing is fans and fame are toxic. There is no denying that.
And I agree there is neurodivergence or childhood abuse or some combination of the two at work in Chappell. But I still like her music and really enjoy singing to it. Hopefully, some kind of detente comes out of this for Chapelle.

+1. Feel so bad for the kids who saved up to buy tickets to this weekend’s show. They aren’t getting any money back even though she just bailed at the last minute.
So wait. You think chapelle roan should just suck it up and do her concert rather than deal with her mental health or safety issues, but you don’t think the kids should have to deal with a concert being cancelled because that is too hard on them?
I don’t really get the logic- crap happens.
That said, I really love chappelles songs. I find her fun and love her vocal range and think she has an interesting take on things. She is a little too explicit for me, but I couldn’t care less about who she is endorsing or not endorsing. I’m not 10 and I know that voting is something everyone in a democracy should do. It is what adults do.
Fandom is insane.
She bailed on her commitment. They didn’t. She should reimburse them for a portion of the ticket price.
Simone Biles.
Not even remotely the same. Have you watched the Simone Biles special on Netflix? If Simone had remained in the Olympics that year, it was a safety hazard. Simone recognized the risk and took herself out of a physically unsafe situation, got the help, did the work. She missed one Olympics. Chapel has canceled five or six events this year some of which were for other larger events. If she’s struggling, she needs to go out and cancel the rest of the year instead of the way she is handling it now. Simone did not enter into any events until she knew. She was really ready. Taylor disappeared for a couple years during the situation, she wasn’t scheduling events and randomly canceling them, she handled what was going on with herself behind the scenes.

Agree if you are struggle with mental health, that’s valid. But you cancel the entire tour to get well. Doing it piecemeal looks like you’re reneging on contracts to enrich yourself at your fan’s expense. Not a good look at all. And not sustainable.
I’m all-in for her desire to protect her privacy and her mental health. I think people need to leave Kayleigh alone; she’s clearly struggling. If Kayleigh needs to cancel some Chappell appearances, so be it. But I agree that means a bigger step back, not this piecemeal approach. This does nothing to fix the root problem if she just plays another venue next week.
