I'm assuming that an extended family member was living in the home after the grandparents passed, so Alsobrooks probably didn't even receive any tax notices. This really is a nothing burger.
In terms of her PG County home, she's actually been overpaying her taxes because she didn't make her more expensive current house her "homestead." She's been getting the homestead benefit on a crappy townhouse.
My coworker lives two homes down from her “crappy” townhouse. It’s a very nice neighborhood, with equestrian facilities in the community. If it was in MoCo it would be 1.5M. For a townhouse.
The "equestrian facility" home is her current, more expensive house (Redfin value $750K). That's the one where she is NOT taking the homestead, thus overpaying her property taxes. The homestead is still attached to the previous PG County townhouse in Bowie valued at only $400K. Thus, she is overpaying PG County property taxes.
And no one cares what it would cost "if it was in MoCo." It's in PG.

Why did OP start this thread then?
This "issue" sounds like a nothingburger.

Alsobrooks illegally took advantage of, among other things, tax breaks for "lower income residents and senior citizens".
Really?
Trump pays no taxes. Makes no difference time as she has my vote.
You Democrats really are obsessed with Trump, aren’t you?
My favorite was when she tried to equivocate Hogan not selling his house while he was governor. That’s just sad.

No idea why their county got downgraded credit-wise recently though

Being county executive of a 40k person town doesn't make you qualified to be a US Senator!
What were Trump’s qualifications to be POTUS?
What is wrong with a Harris | Hogan ballot???
People who are disconnected from state politics don't understand. Hogan is no an anti Trump. He may say he is but he is actually the "lipstick on a pig" version of Trump. I will give Hogan that he is against J6 and that makes him meet a very low standard of acceptability. But he is anti immigrant and quietly stokes hatred against immigrants just like the GOP (e.g. falsely claiming a school was not cooperating with police in regards to an alleged rape by undocumented students - school got death threats). He redirected state funding from mass transit in Baltimore to roads projects near his properties. He refused to send more covid vaccines to Montgomery County where there was demand for them. He spent millions on Covid tests from Korea that couldn't be used - without following basic rules for public spending (they had no written contract, no procurement process, no checking to see if they met fda requirements). Under his watch the GDP of Maryland did not grow one little bit (but his business made money).
His wife is from Korea so it's definitely strange he doesn't like immigrants unless he marries them. Also strange he ordered those test kits from Korea of all places, especially since his wife is from there...
