How she going to deal with Putin when she can’t even go by herself to a softball interview at CNN?

Lol did you miss the post like two inches above yours that shows all the past presidents doing interviews with their running mates? Yes, even daddy Trump!

Not sure if you’re aware but Trump has given many on his own. Harris has been”nominated” (appointed) for 49 days and still haven’t done one.

Cope harder

Are you crazy. Don't answer that, self-evident by your post. Trump has been running for POTUS since he was pushed out of the office in 2021, of course he has conducted one-on-one verbal diarrhea. As you stated, Harris has only been at it for 40 odd days.

I think the requirements for President of the United States should be higher than a spokesmodel.

So far Kamala hasn’t reached spokesmodel status. Maybe at her next interview tomorrow.

Serious question, does anybody have or know where to look for, actual data on historical norms here?

From a facts perspective, we know that presidential candidates often give interviews with their running mate. So I think we can put to bed whether that is unusual.
We also know that Trump has a history of talking for a very long time in a variety of interviews (we can quibble over whether they were legitimate interviews, but that is beside the point.)
But I don't think "either side" would want to say that Trump is the norm.

So what is the history of presidential candidates giving interviews? How many in the last 10 weeks of a campaign? How long? How often edited v. not?

Lots of slinging insults back and forth, but at least I am genuinely curious on the objective question of whether what is happening is atypical. That should be knowable....

18 minutes, edited, no transcript, and with a chaperone.

Great. Not count the actual substantive answers, loser.

I wouldn't be so complacent if I were you. Democrats love counting their poll-o before they're hatched.

We just had a whole convention you could have watched if you weren’t so scared…

The interview will reach far more people than an in person campaign stop. She should have prioritized this.

It might reach more "people". It will likely not reach enough of the right people in the right states. That's why it's more important to go to swing states in person, and probably to talk to local news organizations, than to do national news. The Democrats' core demographic of younger voters especially, are not tuning into CNN (or any other news outlet).

Most candidates somehow manage both. Running for President is hard.

Since the 'tan suit' it's been clear that Republicans can spin anything into an issue for their viewers. The Democrats are finally catching on.

Those are campaign videos with Trump's supporters, not news interviews.
