I'm hoping for something at the White Flint mall site that isn't mostly parking lots.
Ok, I am hoping for something that benefits the county and its residents in the forms of jobs and prestige and as a core destination that will generate other growth. The number of parking spaces needed to achieve that is an irrelevant metric.
Let me guess…you want some “walkable transit oriented variable density attainable housing fifteen minute city” that has bike lanes down the hallways that you can ride to your local sustainable coffee shop?
I mean, look, we could build a facility and the doors can all make choo choo sounds when they open, would that be ok? We can make it Segway accessible.

DP. That’s clearly not what PP meant, and there’s no way they’ll put a walmart there, but PP doesn’t agree with your parking ideology so you respond with something ridiculous instead. Honestly growth would be a lot easier if so-called YIMBYs could bring themselves to support growth that didn’t check all of their boxes. Parking lots are not core destinations and generate neither jobs nor prestige.

Wasn't part of it supposed to be for a new elementary school?
In the 2010 White Flint sector plan:
There is no site large enough for a typical 10 to 12-acre elementary school site within the Sector Plan area. MCPS has identified
two sites that are suitable for an elementary school. The preferred site is located on the White Flint Mall Property, along the southern
boundary south of the proposed Nebel Street Extended. The second site is the Luttrell Property, in Block 1 of the NoBe District.
-Designate an elementary school site in the southern portion of the White Flint Mall Property as the preferred site.,
-Designate the Luttrell Property as an alternative school site.
The Luttrell Property is the parking lots south of Nicholson/west of Woodglen.

+1. The fact they’re doing the metro deal makes development of the former mall property less likely because the county has a lot of subsidies available for construction on metro property. The project on metro property will be more competitive for investment because the subsidies will make it more profitable.
Generally developers like to develop near other successful developments, no?

Sadly, I’m pretty convinced that Montgomery County is completely allergic to ideas as good as this, even if it wasn’t at that specific location (though it would be a great location).
