Does Tufts not currently compete with Emory?
No, maybe in Boston the metro but not NYC, Chicago, DC ,Atlanta, west coast ect.
Tufts is different in quality or different in type of kid who appies?
Admissions from our school (to Tufts and Emory) are about the same stats.
Different in outcomes, The students who go there are similar quality, maybe Emory is a smidgen better, but Emory has better outcomes by far.

My student chose Wake over Emory, there is a huge difference socially. Also know kids who chose Tufts for location.
You must be very conservative, because I can't imagine any other type of family choosing Wake.
Lots of people, particularly students, choose Wake over Emory. Much more pleasant college experience and amazing alumni network in NYC, not just Atlanta.

Wake has a VERY strong country-club vibe (very white, literally walled off). That obviously appeals to some kids but my DD was super turned off from the second we pulled in to the campus...wanted to leave after the info session but we stayed for the tour. Hated it even more after that.
Liked both Emory and Tufts much more--more urban (or urban-accessible) and diverse.
That's what I meant by conservative, I was just being polite. For an ultra liberal like pp said to like no diversity Wake is suspicious.

The crazy Emory booster has followed the crazy Davidson booster to this thread.
They literally haunt every board and drop Emory into every discussion. Hope they are at least getting paid and not just an insecure parent...

Washington & Lee > Richmond > Wake Forest
(But Wake Forest finance majors do much better than W&L and Richmond econ majors... no finance at W&L or Richmond)
For computer science,
W&L > Wake Forest > Richmond
For business / business administration
W&L > Wake Forest > Richmond
Very recently YCBK podcast talked about Wake Forest having "rolling early decision" so that you can get a decision from them as early as August and thus have time to apply ED1 elsewhere if they deny you. That would be very interesting if Wake was one of your top choices.
