Again for some of you in the back: There’s no “moving to the left” on abortion policy. The GOP’s interpretation is that the 14th Amendment protects embryos, and that’s a de jure and de facto ban on abortion, IVF, certain forms of contraception and who knows what else they can dream up.

Wrong. He clearly says he is leaving the abortion decision to the individual states, where it belongs. He also fully supports contraception. Do continue lying though. Now everyone can easily call you out on it.

Republicans Will Protect and Defend a Vote of the People, from within the States, on the Issue of Life We proudly stand for families and Life. We believe that the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States guarantees that no person can be denied Life or Liberty without Due Process, and that the States are, therefore, free to pass Laws protecting those Rights. After 51 years, because of us, that power has been given to the States and to a vote of the People. We will oppose Late Term Abortion, while supporting mothers and policies that advance Prenatal Care, access to Birth Control, and IVF (fertility treatments.)

You bolded the wrong parts. What they have to say about the 14th Amendment - which I helpfully bolded here for you, puts the kibosh on anything a woman or her fertility clinic wants to do with her own embryos.

You are picking one part of the sentence and ignoring the rest - which clearly states: "...and that the States are, therefore, free to pass Laws protecting those Rights." Meaning, states can VOTE to restrict or not restrict abortion, according to the will of the people - as they are currently doing. What about this do you not understand?

After he bragged about overturning Roe v Wade??

Politicians brag all the time. It's what they do. Just ask Joe.

Bragging about something he is trying to distance himself from?

But he's not distancing himself. He bragged about returning the decision to the states and stated that he does not support a nationwide ban on abortion.

He’s speaking from both sides of his mouth, his only genuine talent. FACT.

He has been consistent all along. FACT. Get a clue.

Your ignorance is astonishing.

He was vocally pro-choice before becoming MAGA. He now lies about abortions happening after a baby has been born something that isn’t even possible.

oh I am educated plenty. It was recognized as a federal constitutional right for 50 years. Why overturn it? And why did Trump brag he played a role in that?? Now he is changing his tune? Too late.

You seem very confused. He “bragged” that he had played a part in sending Roe back to the states for voters to decide. He hasn’t “changed his tune.” He still feels each state should make their own laws on the issue. I happen to agree.

So you know which side of the Civil War you would have supported and it’s not the correct one.

Right, sure - whatever you say. I’m pro-choice and have never heard anyone equate the right to an abortion to the issue of slavery. Do keep making an utter fool of yourself, though!

You must not read much because it’s an equation that has been made frequently. Bodily autonomy - it comes down to that.

Never a constitutional right, rather a Supreme Court decision built on shaky ground. RBG was aware of that shaky ground. Congress had 50 years to establish appropriate legislation they, did not. The current court made a decision consistent with the 10th amendment and returned the issue to the states.

That’s cold comfort to the real people harmed by this decision, the women forced to carry dying babies to term. Horrible. Because of Trump. His fault.

No, you’re completely wrong. The Dobbs ruling doesn’t mention states. It LEFT THE DECISION UP TO “THE PEOPLE AND THEIR REPRESENTATIVES” which includes Congress.

The 14th Amendment is federal and they think the 14th Amendment protects embryos. That’s what you don’t understand.

This is a ridiculously partisan "annotation." I suggest everyone simply read the actual document itself. It's only 16 pages and isn't tainted by a silly, biased narrative.

So what if it's partisan? As if Fox, OAN, et al don't engage in a "silly, biased narrative" every minute of the day. Are any of the annotations untrue? If so, please give an example.

The annotations read like they were written by a middle schooler with a huge chip on their shoulder. Why read a biased narrative when we can read the actual document and draw our own conclusions? We don’t need a partisan “explainer.”

Um... are you aware what "overturning Roe v Wade" did? IT SENT THE DECISION BACK TO THE STATES. Dear god, educate yourself.

oh I am educated plenty.

One of those 20 million is a dear friend of mine. A real human being. A hard working tax payer who gives back to her community and has been here for 25 years and is a mother to a child. There are many many like her. F your inhumanity.
