We are immigrants and we host a pretty big July 4th open house that has continued to grow. The food and drinks are served from the time that people show up at our place at 5 pm and lasts even past midnight, until the fireworks. We had kids, elderly people, lots of vegetarians as well as people with various food allergies too. We hosted 55 people.

Made ahead or store bought and served cold or room temperature -
Stuffed mushrooms, stuffed peppers, three kinds of grilled/boiled corn on the cobs - Mexican corn, buttered corn and spicy Indian bhutta, gazpacho, golgappas, naan bread bites with hummus, tzatzíki and Baba ghanoush, samosa chaat, papdi chaat, potato salad, chicken salad, various kinds of buns and rolls, sliced lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, condiments etc

Baked in oven and served warm -
seekh kebabs, paneer tikkas with assorted chutneys and sauces

Grill -
Burgers, ribs, brats, tandoori chicken and quinoa burgers for vegetarians

Desserts -
Watermelon, trifle pudding, banana nut bread, almond flour cookies and variety ice cream cones

The heat was a huge issue this year. We actually set up much of our food indoors and also set up a movie in our basement to keep kids entertained.

It’s a must have.

This is actually helpful because I wouldn’t think to put out mayo for burgers. I would probably remember to put out mustard and ketchup, even though we never do those on burgers either.

What condiment do you use on a burger then?

None. Lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese on a juicy burger…no condiment necessary.

You're insane.
