I am truly sorry this happened to your son. Can you clarify what poem was read and what the heckler said? We all want to support, but CAIR is tough to trust.

This attitude is why most Americans in general aren’t sympathetic with either side in this war, who both want to kill eachother for religious reasons. Trying to drag the conflict into an elementary school is a cynical manipulation of kids and is not appropriate, and not going to win any converts among their parents.


None of it is about religious reasons. It's all about land, power, money, and the painful losses over generations.

Something seems off because CAIR likes to play the victim and blow situations out of proportion.

I don't think it was right to heckle a little kid if that really happened and the principal should have intervened. No matter what they said. But the gaps in the information shared make me skeptical that it was as bad as they say.

I would need to know what was said in the poem. As a teacher, I couldn't imagine a scenario where heckling a 2nd grader is okay, but I do think that the lack of details in the complaint is concerning.

The poem was presumably vetted by the PTA or the administration. Further, you may not like CAIR but they are savvy political operators. They would not be setting this case alongside the attempted drowning of a Palestinian child in Texas if the poem were "calling for the destruction of Israel."


Does the PTA vet poems and readings from international night? I truly don’t know. Is the school by school? I have never heard of the PTA approving material for international night.


I doubt they would have time or personnel to vet anything being performed for international night. These programs are usually run by a small group of volunteers.


Correct, no one vets Interntional Night "talent". The volunteers are busy organizing everything.
