14 is a bit young, and 15 is iffy, I would say if you trust the other friends have good judgement, know their parents, set a certain time pick up is expected by, and maybe make a group chat with all kids and parents as a way of communication, or have the friends number in case you cannot get through to your child. I would say 16 is probably best for that, but it's also personal preference and being worried about this topic is so normal.

HOWEVER- It depends if you grew up WASP and never saw or interacted with a person of color, then don’t go to Bowie. But it’s a great and well run park!

I have a 14 year old girl and no way would I let her be dropped off at an amusement park. Possibly would consider at 16. At 14, I would want a parent or two in the park with them. I would also want them out of there by dinner time regardless. Places like that get weird/rowdy/rough at night.

I'm honestly surprised by this question . . . I was flying on airplane by myself at 13. I think there's a reason kids are afraid to get their drivers licenses and live at home well into their 20s these days; we've got to keep increasing how much autonomy we give our kids. An enclosed park with security is a no-brainer to me.
I flew across the country when I was 8 years old but it was a different world then.
I tend to think things were riskier back then. When I arrived at the airport my sister wasn't there to pick me up. I had to find a payphone, know how to use it and my parents' phone number, etc. Now our kids can call or text us from anywhere.
We've just needlessly changed our culture to be super conservative about what we let kids do in the real world, and far too lenient about what we let them do online.
How do they take a phone in a water park?
Are there clocks around if they don't bring phones and we just set check in times?
Does anyone know the answer?
There are water proof phone pouches you can get on Amazon. They have a strap to hang around your neck.
