OMG! I was at the Rockville graduation too, had a kid graduating there 4 days ago and I think UMBC was much better than DAR.

DAR is a great venue. Gorgeous and comfortable. And you can make early dinner reservations at a nice restaurant in DC. Feels very special.
Take Uber or Lyft to avoid parking hassles. Or metro pretty close and then a short Uber ride. Worth the hassle in my opinion
Certainly to all that. It's also way too small for the larger HSs in MCPS.

DAR is a great venue. Gorgeous and comfortable. And you can make early dinner reservations at a nice restaurant in DC. Feels very special.
Take Uber or Lyft to avoid parking hassles. Or metro pretty close and then a short Uber ride. Worth the hassle in my opinion

It would have been a gorgeous day (last Friday), but it could have also been a disaster so I understand why the school went with the safe route. Even with the UMBC hassle (and parking was horrible), it was a fantastic day!
Why couldn't there be a rain date for the stadium option?
All those stage/av/seating/etc rentals need to be returned.
And school is canceled that day for the rest of that high school, to allow the teachers to attend. You’d have to cancel school for another day at the last minute, which would cause all kinds of cascading logistical issues.

The only food I saw for sale was popcorn. Lots of expensive bottled drinks. Water was $4+ but good to have.
Traffic was horrible both in and out of campus. Allow much, much more time than anticipated.

Yep. Was at UMBC yesterday morning for a 9 am ceremony. The concession stands on the "A-K" side were open.I saw someone walking down to their seat with some popcorn and bottled waters.`
