We are taking a long weekend this weekend and traveling to a resort that’s a bit of a drive into town. The resort has dining options but they are absolutely ridiculous; there’s no way I’m paying $30 a meal for my kids to eat. They DO have on-site pizza which we plan to have one night. We will be there three nights. We are already bringing breakfast and lunch foods (cold cuts, cheese and crackers, etc) and pool snacks, but I have no clue what to do about dinner, other than the pizza every night. It’s not like we can cook in the hotel room. This is sort of an oversight on my part. I’m just curious what you would do!
OP, is there a microwave in the room? A refrigerator or just a mini/cube?

OP I think you're smart to plan ahead a bit just to save yourself a headache. Places onsite are always booked up at the kiddie times (who wants to eat at 7:00 at night? 5 please!) and then there's still a wait and everyone is cranky and the offerings are seriously weird.
Like Pete the chef sat around trying to figure out how to class up a sysco burger enough to charge $24 for it.

It’s a Great Wolf Lodge and it’s all I can do this year for my kids before they head to their dad’s for the summer. I’m sorry that I want to do something special for them but can’t afford to pay the ridiculous prices for the food offered there. I can’t believe this is offending you so much that you have resorted to insulting me so harshly. What’s it to you? Why do you care what we eat? What’s “gross” about making sandwiches in a kitchenette? YOU are the gross one here, getting your rocks off insulting someone trying to make a nice weekend for her kids with what she has. I’m done reading this thread because it’s upsetting. I don’t think there is anything “gross” about what I plan to do, and I know my kids will have fun and that’s all that matters. I came for advice, not judgement.

I never said I was, you are saying that. I budgeted for the lodging and the experience, but I’m spread thin, so I was looking for food alternatives. I’m on a fixed income and I can’t just afford to drop $100 a night on dinner. Leave me alone, seriously. Please.
I'm not the one who said it was "gross" I'm only responding the over the top hysterical reaction that people who brings loads of food and crockpots of chili are in an unimaginable situation and karma will get them. That person is nuts. There are multiple people responding here, not just one person saying things you don't like.

I would imagine it’s the perfect scenario. She already said they are getting pizza one night and would split carry out the other two nights and bring rolls and salad? Your way, packing daily dinners for a longer vacation, seems way more incongruous, to be honest.

We’re going on vacation for a week this summer and I’m bringing the following for the room:
bagels, pringles, granola bars, tea bags, ramen, Mac cheese cups, popcorn, drink mix, tons of lunchbox type snacks.
It’s just more convenient when you have kids.

As someone who can easily afford Great Wolf Lodge, I still pack food to places like this because I don’t like their offerings and saving money helps me in the long-term. Enjoy your trip! The kids will not care about the pre-packed food one bit.
