Please explain that double standard. It especially interests me now that we live in an era where articles like the “Crisis of Men and Boys” are plentiful.

I think Sulgrave had to sell their building due to low membership. The difference is that women pay to join a women’s club, and men can pay to join a men’s club. But at WG, women are paying to upgrade a men’s club that they cannot access.

The loud complainers are trying to take this away for men and don't want it to be the case. But women's only is somehow fine.

If women used their private club to lear at naked men while scantily clad 20 yos served them sandwiches and they made business deals and met there to keep men from gaining promotions, I would not want women’s clubs either. Women’s clubs usually don’t do that.

Neither do men’s clubs. You will be out on your ear for talking business at any of them. Sorry but the figment of your imagination doesn’t exist.

Mmmmhmmm, of course. Something tells me you would find a way to justify women's only clubs and nix men's only regardless of what happens in them.

Isn’t the Sulgrave still women only but yet the Met Club is open to all! How unfair!

In this case, the club is very mid tier - none of the course, facilities or members rank anywhere near DC’s finest.

This is incorrect.

They have a Women's Lounge. Just like every other country club. News flash. NONE of them are as nice as the men's grills/restaurants. They're just not. If you don't have functioning eyeballs and don't realize that when. you join I can't help you.

In this case they are assessing members (women) for a $5M renovation make the men’s space even better.

Men are idiots. If they wanted to keep the space they should probably shut up and not ask members (including women) pay $5M to renovate it.

“Separate but equal” is never equal. Haven’t we learned this yet?

We need more male-only spaces, so this seems fine.

false. i know many female members and black members, and one who is both.

Wow, yes, the fact that you know of ONE black female member changes my whole view of the place.

None of those clubs you mentioned are in north Arlington so you can drive for better golf or a more exclusive club but WGCC offers convenience for Arlington and McLean and that convenience is worth the trade off for many people. The men’s grill at congressional went away years ago just like at many other clubs. Time for WGCC to get with the times.

I live in Arlington and I wasn’t a big fan of the mom clique from there. Acting like it was such a big deal to belong to WGCC. Lol. The course is so small and mediocre. Then my child had to play a match at Washington Golf (my child plays on our CC’s golf team). Two old men were beyond rude to me. You know the type, they fancy themselves “Southern gentlemen.” Entitled *#%. This nonsense raising dues to pay for a new boys club shouldn’t surprise anyone that has been there or knows the families there.

The course is "small and mediocre" because it is old. So is Burning Tree for the same reason. This club cannot create more modern distances (necessitated by today's superior equipment) because it is landlocked by homes. Everyone knows this going into these older clubs. They don't criticise

It’s spelled criticize. Everyone knows it’s landlocked. The fact is that it’s small and mediocre and no one should be bragging about going there. The course sucks and there are tons of more exclusive country clubs in our area. Washington Golf isn’t even in the same league as Congressional or Chevy Chase. If you want less exclusive but good golf, go to Riverbend or Army Navy.
