DP it’s pretty unhinged when you tell a group of accomplished young women who have just finished their degrees that never mind all that your only real accomplishment in life is being a wife and mother and homemaker. Yuck.

He was speaking at Benedictine College in Kansas. It is one of a handful of conservative Catholic colleges in the country. The kind of people and families that end up Benedictine question whether Notre Dame is actually Catholic or not. His message would be enthusiastically welcomed by an overwhelmingly majority of the people who were in attendance.

He made a similar speech last year at Georgia Tech.

yikes.. did he get booed? I think it's one thing to make that kind of speech at a conservative catholic school, but another thing at a public school with diverse backgrounds, including lgbtq groups.

People like Butker are a religious minority. They are more akin to Orthodox Jews in belief and religious zeal. They are absolutely a minority. To be clear, I’m not in same camp as Butker, but I understand his views on an academic level.

I’m sure Alito, Thomas, Barret agree with him. That’s the kind of thing we are concerned about. People who make policy or shape laws.

DP. That's not what I got from it. He was saying that the *most important accomplishment* for both women AND men is their children and families. I would agree with that, and I'm neither Catholic nor a "trad wife," whatever that is.

Not really. While that extreme does exist in the far right, the vast majority of Benedictine-type Catholics don’t advocate in favor of forceful overthrow of government.

I'm not even Catholic and I understood what he was saying. I agreed with a lot of it, maybe not everything, but there was nothing offensive in his speech. The only unhinged person I'm seeing is the OP and her gross hyperbole.
