My most significant ex and I were serious and he broke up with me kind of out of the blue. We shared a large friend group so I saw him at their weddings, etc. and heard updates about him over the years (as I’m sure he did about me), but we never really did more than acknowledge each other. I moved away from our home city and he stayed and was married with two kids. I I am also happily married with kids. A few years ago he was diagnosed with a terminal illness and asked a mutual friend for my number and he sent me a looooong text apologizing for his behavior 25 years ago! We texted sporadically for the year after that and saw each other once before he passed away.

My other serious ex has been a Facebook friend and he texted me for the first time in 20 years about 9 months ago and we followed up with a phone call. It turns out he and his wife were about to separate - it was nice to catch up but I shut any doors there.

We are facebook friends and we both don’t update our pages. I at least show I have 3 kids. I don’t think my ex got married.

Reading this thread has been painful, and I feel for those whose exes have died. I was already thinking about a past boyfriend for other reasons lately, and seeing this thread has brought on even more thoughts of him. He was murdered about three years after we split. I was profoundly sorry but not shocked. He had a legit business for the world to see, and illegal dealings behind it.
