They have boyfriend joggers and shorts. My 12 yr old plays basketball so she has a ton of basketball shorts. With the right pair and right top it’s a look that is much cuter than tight shorts and tank top which has been the basic look forever.

This. A 9 year old is definitely not a tween, my kid turned 9 in the 2nd half of 3rd grade! Although as a parent of a tween (12) I like perusing the threads here that are specific to teens to get a sense of what lies ahead.
9 year olds (especially younger sibs) are definitely wearing Lulu hottie hots and carrying Stanley’s where I live. Lord help us all.
That doesn’t make them a tween. That honestly makes them the kids of parents who want to call their 9 year olds tweens because they think it’s cute. My kid would not have been able to fit into Lulu hottie hots when she was 9, and I sure as hell wasn’t buying my 9 year old 70 dollar shorts!
Every bit of this. This is more about mom wanting her kid to be a tween. Also, my DD is 12 and just now able to fit into size 0 in adult clothes.

My kids are teens. They wear whatever they want. I don’t judge style, but I do judge people that call teens prostitutes for wearing short shorts. I bet they are the same ones saying my kids will be abstinent thru college lol
But you won’t judge someone who says a girl should dress a certain way because that’s what boys like?

Short shorts are in, just like tube tops, mini skirts, daisy dukes, low ride pants, etc.. were in when we were their age.
+100 Seriously, "who wears short shorts? we wear short shorts." This is nothing new.
Just because it's not new doesn't mean we have to like it. And 10 years ago, even if there were people wearing short shorts, there were other options.. now it feels like there is nothing.
Because stores don't sell things that don't sell
Parents that dictate clothing to their daughters are basically telling them, I think less of you based on appearance.
