We used to drive 9.5 hrs (650ish miles) one way (total of 19 hrs/1300 miles round trip) to visit my parents. That is a road trip. 4 hrs (about 230 miles from DC-NYC, by the way not 400 miles) to NYC barely counts as a road trip in my frame of reference.
I just worry it will be hectic and not relaxing considering the drive time. We don’t take lots of driving trips, as I mentioned, so I guess my experience is minimal. Four hours each way for, essentially 2.5 days, just doesn’t seem worth it to me, but I don’t have anything to compare it to. We normally take long trips via air travel.

If you don’t want to go, maybe see if DH will go alone and take kids.
I’m not sure driving is all that cheaper tho. And it’s so much more stressful than taking the train. With tolls, gas, and 45 to 75 dollars per night parking, driving to nyc isn’t cheap
Maybe but parking in NYC for 3 days won’t be cheap. Maybe OP can find a park and ride lot or something just outside the city to park cheaper and take a train into the center
Whoops - I see my concern was discussed after I decided to post this. Yes, Spothero works but OP should be aware that they will literally catalog her car in a parking shelf and there will be no access until her reservation is complete!
