Yes, odd. Certainly not typical today. However, I also am not and never did complain about my choices in life because I've been happy and satisfied. I watched my mother try to parent kids from babies to teens in her 40s and 50s while working and running a household and did not want to do that myself.

There is so much hate on here for older parents and OP your question gave them a window to say Told You So.

I am your age with a 7 year old and life has gotten easier past the tantrum etc stage but I am also tired. Prioritizing my sleep above all else really helps. At our age you start getting perimenopause symptoms and a big one for me is waking up and not getting back to sleep. Alcohol really messes with my sleep now so I have to watch my intake. Vitamins and a regular but not super hardcore exercise routine also help.

When I find myself exhausted, I prioritize sleep first and foremost. I will take sleep aids for 3-4 days so that I fall asleep and stay asleep until the morning (magnesium and NyQuil or similar). Melatonin messes with me so I don’t take that. Like others have said, sleep before exercise. And you only need to work out 2-3 times per week (30 minutes). Strength training first and then fit in cardio when you can. When you work out, work out hard. Your body will be sore but it will get stronger and daily life tasks will feel easier and therefore, you will feel more energized. Hope this helps!

Man this thread is depressing. You gave birth at 38 not 48. I don’t think age is your issue here.

Check vitamin d. I was low normal (in the 30s) and upping that gave me a new lease on life. Seriously.
