Being from the west Coast it's so weird to be to see people thinking of it as a girls' only sport...I have a sister who lives in the Norfolk area whose sons play volleyball in high school, too, not so far away. Also the more sports the better - give kids options to exercise and be part of teams.
Anonymous wrote:lol all the people saying they should have added X sport for girls or boys instead of volleyball or wrestling. Did a single one of you advocate for that in your community and with the School Board? Adding boys volleyball and girls wrestling has been years in the making, and mentioned in dozens of Board newsletters and in Board meetings. It’s a shame you didn’t bother to weigh in when you had the chance. But wait - you can still advocate for any of the sports you’ve suggested! But I’m guessing zero will. It’s easier just to complain after the fact.

Anonymous wrote:Must be a real niche thing, as we live in Burke and don't know any boys who have ever played on boys volleyball teams. Its not a sport offered by our rec league.
I think kickball or rugby or flag football would be more popular.
The basket.ball "green days " are towards the END of the fall sports season-over the half season mark.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I'm surprised that folks think you can have both boys and girls basketball in the same season but can't have both boys and girls volleyball in the same season because of gym space.
Um, its a whole extra team needing practice and game space when the gym space is maxed out. What's surprising?
How is it maxed out in the fall with just girls volleyball, but not maxed out in the winter with both girls basketball and boys basketball?
Because basketball still has activities in the fall.
Yeah, but for every other season/sport the in season teams have priority over the out of season teams.
All the spring sports have indoor green days during the winter and basketball gets priority at that point, so it seems like they manage to make it work for every other sport, but *shrug*
you can shrug, but if it comes down to boys basketball or boys volleyball getting gym space, I can guess which team will come out on top at most schools

I don't know. I only have boys.
So you’re ignorant about any sport that’s played by both boys and girls? Weird flex.

Color guard, marching band, girls volleyball, field hockey or boys or girls swim teams. But I believe these should exist even though I don’t knew anyone personally one those teams. Surely you have heard of boys volleyball, even if you don’t know a player? Ok then. Sports can exist at a high school level even when you don’t personally know someone who plays.
Are you....a shut-in?
